Committee Members
Meet the Worldcon in Brisbane 2028 Team! For the Brisbane in 2028 bid, we’ve assembled a team of some of Australia’s most experienced and innovative conrunners and dedicated fans. We bring a range of experience across both Australian and international conventions and festivals to our working party.
Advisory Board
Our committee is supported and advised by Australian speculative fiction experts and fanatics PRK and Perry Middlemiss, Seattle 2025 Chair Kathy Bond, and long-time US fan, Mike Glyer.
Ditmar Award Winner Perry Middlemiss was the chairman in 1999 of Aussiecon 3, the 57th World Science Fiction Convention, and co-chair in 2010 of Aussiecon 4, the 68th Worldcon. Hear more on his podcast, Two Chairs Talking, with David Grigg.
Fandom legend PRK regularly attends and assists in the organising of Swancon (chair in 2009), has been a board member of WASFF (the Western Australian Science Fiction Foundation), and is a member of WASFF’s Convention Steering Committee.
Kathy Bond was chair of the Seattle 2025 Worldcon. She has served in major roles on other Worldcons in 2024, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, and 2015, and chaired Norwescon three times. Outside of fandom, Kathy is a recovering academic who is a hit at cocktail parties with obscure trivia about European judicial systems and labor law.
An LA-area fan and publisher of the long-running fanzine File 770, Mike Glyer chaired L.A.Con III (the 1996 Worldcon), co-chaired Loscon 3 in 1977, and Westercone in 1978. He has been Fan Guest of Honour at numerous conventions, and his contributions to fandom have earned him 12 Fan Hugo Awards and a Worldcon Special Award in 1982.
The umbrella organisation for the Brisbane in 28 bid is MACGUFFINS AUSTRALIA LTD.
